Michael Lohan awaits heart surgery

Michael Lohan is said to be struggling to breath and speak as he rests up in hospital ahead of his heart surgery tomorrow.The estranged father of actress Lindsay Lohan was too ill to undergo the procedure over the weekend after doctors found blood clots in one of his lungs.The website has published a photograph of the 51-year-old laid up in bed, connected to monitors where he appears to be in a state of semi-consciousness.

Lohan was rushed to hospital on Friday after suffering chest pains while staying in a court-ordered treatment facility.He underwent an emergency procedure at the Lee Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers, Florida.His close friend Tom Murro tells Radar Online that Lohan had a procedure called an angioplasty in an effort to correct a problem with diminished blood flow to his heart.Lohan recently entered a rehab program for a 120 day anger management program.
He has a history of heart problems.The Celebrity Rehab star, who was rushed to the ER with heart issues earlier this year, is expected to return to the centre when his condition stabilizes.He has admitted in interviews that doctors wanted to put stents in his arteries to allow his blood to flow unhindered, as long as three years ago, but he never had the operation.Lohan pleaded no contest to domestic violence charges in Florida last week and avoided a jail sentence.He was told he must not contact his ex-girlfriend, Kate Major, a 29-year-old former Star Magazine reporter who he was accused of battering in October.
